Fuller's League Division Two Chobham 215-7 Merstham 216-5 NAVEED SAEED was left delighted by Merstham's resolve as they chased down a target of 216 to register an 11th win in 12 completed games this season. The Magics were determined not to let the season's hard work slip in their 150th anniversary year and fought to gain another victory after a first league defeat a week before. But with Chobham fourth and pressing for promotion the game was tense and always at boiling point. Not least, from Merstham's point of view, as Chobham's Australian Ryan Morris compiled a fantastic unbeaten century after Saeed put the visitors in to bat at Quality Street. Ammar Tahir took three early wickets - taking his tally in league and cup to 30 for the season (3-27 off 11 overs) but neither he or fellow opener Asim Jafferi could find a way past number four batsman Morris. He found some support in Ian Lackey (21) who was the second player caught behind by Andy Rivers, this time off Noman Javed (1-46). Humayoon Nasir (3-74 off 12) was the other wicket taker, nudging his league season's tally to 20. He removed the stumps of two victims - including second highest scorer Alex Orme (28) and taking a caught and bowled. David Jenkins was 24 not out as Chobham declared on 215 after 52.5 overs. Saeed said: "It was a great win and I'm proud of the boys' team performance. "Both teams showed passion and a will to win. They were the best team we had played so far in the league." Chobham finished on 215-7 in their 52.5 overs. In reply, Merstham began well with Jason Kyte and Ashar Syed. After Syed was out, caught off Morris for 12, Andy Rivers and Kyte started a great partnership. Rivers scored 50 before being bowled by Jamie Roy and Kyte was caught on 48. Noman Javed's 20 kept the momentum going as did Arsalan Abass (30) built another good partnership with Lithon Tarofder, who finished on 33 not out. He helped Ammar Tahir get over the winning line as Merstham won in 42 overs.
