DORKING Dynamites started their Surrey League Men's Division Two season with a narrow victory over Guildford Storm.

And they had to come from two sets down to clinch the win as well with Storm taking the first two 25-19 and 26-24.

The home team had played well though and were still confident and took an early lead in the third. Good serving, hitting and blocking by the Dynamites led to unforced errors by Guildford and although they fought back hard at the end the home team deservedly took the set 25-17.

Guildford took an early lead in the fourth set but unforced errors gave the advantage to Dorking and they didn't look back, taking the set 25-20.

Storm took the early initiative in the decider, but they were pegged back by Dorking and at 13-13 it was anyone's game.

It was Dynamites who took the advantage though and won the set 15-13 to complete the comeback.

In the third division, Dorking Discos were soundly beaten 3-0 by ACS Drakes.

The squad had many new faces playing their first matches for the club and although they started the sets fairly strongly, a bit of inexperience handed the advantage to the Drakes who pounced.

Meanwhile, Dorking Diamonds lost 3-1 to Spelthorne Sharks in the Surrey Ladies League.

Also with new players in their ranks, Diamonds were on their toes from the start and were unlucky to lose the first set 25-20.

A solid start in the second set kept the scores more or less level until they forged ahead to win by the same margin as the first.

However, strong serving by Spelthorne in the third set gave the home team advantage and when the Diamonds were able to receive the serve they were unlucky not to be able to kill off the points and so lost by a disappointing 25-10.

It was a similar story in the fourth with Diamonds unable to kill off points to stop the onslaught of the strong serves and despite a fightback late on they lost the set 25-16 and with it the match.
