Surrey Police release e-fit after attempted distraction burglary in Epsom

AN e-fit has been released by Surrey Police following an attempted distraction burglary in Epsom.

The incident took place around 4.45pm on Wednesday, October 17 at a property in Nimbus Road, Epsom.

The offender claimed he was in the area to check water valves and gained access to the property.

The victim, a woman in her sixties, asked for identification, but the man ignored her and went through to the kitchen, turned taps on and talked about water related problems in the area.

The man then let three other men into the flat when the victim momentarily left the kitchen.

She challenged the four men and they made a quick exit and left without taking anything, in a black four door saloon type vehicle.

The first offender is described as a white man, in his 20s, with short cropped brown hair, of slim build, with a long face and good teeth, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall and spoke with a southern accent. He was wearing a light blue long sleeved denim jacket and light blue dirty scruffy jeans.

The second offender is described as a white man, with short dark hair, aged in his early to mid 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a long sleeved puffer or bomber jacket.

The third offender is described as a white man in his early to mid 20s. He was wearing a light fawn coloured jacket and the fourth offender was described as a white male in his mid to early 20s.

Investigating Officer DC David Sprague, said: "This is a despicable attempt by a group of young men to target and steal from a vulnerable woman. 

"Although nothing was taken in this instance I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of the burglary to contact officers with information as we need to catch those responsible.

"Do you recognise the man shown in the electronic image? We are keen to speak to this individual as we believe he may be able to provide vital information to assist with this ongoing investigation. I would urge anyone with any information to call Surrey Police as a matter of urgency."
