PEBBLE Hill Road will be reopened at 5pm today (Friday), two days earlier than expected.
The water company's mains replacement works will now progress along the A25 for approximately 1.5 miles towards Dorking.
Fortunately, the road is wide enough at this point for the majority of the works to be carried out without interrupting traffic flow.
At the same time, further mains replacement work will continue in the fields adjacent to Pebble Hill Road which will include tunnelling under the railway line.
Sutton and East Surrey Water say they will have to close Pebble Hill Road once more for about a week around the end of March to decommission the old water main.
They are currently in discussions with Surrey Highways about the timing and duration of this closure, but hope it will take place during the Easter school holidays.
They will be confirming the dates as soon as they can and announce them on their website at www.waterplc.com/pebblehill
