Firefighters were called to reports of a traffic collision earlier this morning on the A23 outside Starbucks. They arrived on the scene, along with police and paramedics, to find a van on its side. They assisted as crews removed the vehicle and treated the driver, who was not thought to be seriously hurt.
A crew from Reigate was later called to a house fire in Church Road. An elderly man was assisted from the house at about 10am after a fire broke out in his bedroom. Crews put the fire out and ventilated the smoke.
They were then called to another fire in Horley on Brighton Road at about 5pm. The blaze was out by the time they got to the scene and they ventilated the building.
A crew from Horley was also called to a kitchen fire in a flat in Lumley Road. The fire was out on arrival, according to a crew member, and they used equipment to ventilate the property. They arrived on the scene at about 4.50pm and left at about 5.30pm.
