AN ELDERLY driver who died in a crash with a recovery vehicle in Guildford has been named.
Gayler 'Charlie' Chambers, 86, died and his passenger was seriously injured in a collision involving a recovery vehicle in Compton on December 21.
Police were called to The Street, Compton at 10.10am on Friday (December 21) following a crash between a red Lexus and an Isuzu recovery vehicle.
Mr Chambers, of Compton, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital where he later died. His male passenger was taken to St George's Hospital where his condition was described as serious but stable.
The driver of the Isuzu suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Police are continuing appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles prior to it to come forward.
