WITNESSES are being sought after thieves stole cash and cigarettes from a supermarket in Bookham.

Staff at the Co-operative in High Street were opening the store at about 7.15am on December 23 when three men forced their way in.

The offenders are described as black and wearing dark hooded tops with their faces covered, and police are trying to establish if they left the scene on foot or vehicle.

Detective Constable Andy Cooper said: "The four shop workers were going about their business when they were taken by surprise by these three men.

"Although no weapons were used, the staff felt intimidated and threatened, and have been left shaken by their ordeal.

"We would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or anyone with any information to come forward as soon as possible to help us progress our inquiries."

Call police on 101, quoting reference P12375627, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
