POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted ram raid at a clothes store in Oxted. The incident occurred around 4.30am on Sunday, March 31 at the Robert Fuller store on Station Road East. It is believed three men used two vehicles to attempt to gain access to the store front and when they were unsuccessful left the scene in a dark coloured BMW. A grey Volkswagen car, which is believed to be stolen from Holland Road earlier the same morning, was left at the scene. Investigating officer Detective Constable Jo Clarke from Reigate CID, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area either around the time of the incident or in the days prior to it taking place to contact officers with information. "It is clear the offenders had planned this offence in some detail by stealing a car to commit the offence and I would appeal to anyone who has heard someone discuss this incident and believe they may be involved to contact officer with information." Around £450 worth of damage was caused to the store in the incident. Anyone who has any information on this offence is urged to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference TD/13/1478 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
