TWO tireless youngsters were in the swim with an amazing fundraising effort.
Maria Lee, 15, and her 14-year-old friend Sam Biggs swam 1,408 lengths of the pool at Donyngs Leisure Centre in Redhill – the equivalent of 11 miles apiece – on April 27.
Both members of Redhill and Reigate Swimming Club, they hope their efforts will have raised around £750.
They are both busily trying to raise £3,500 each towards a school trip to Costa Rica and Nicaragua next year, to help less fortunate communities there.
Maria has cleaned cars and done some babysitting and Christmas wrapping to help towards her target.
Sam is planning to do a sponsored run and a fundraising cycle ride.
Both are Year 10 pupils at Oxted School.
