AN EYE witness to the huge garage fire in Hamsey Green, Warlingham, has described casualties "running out with burns".
It has been confirmed that at least one person has suffered smoke inhalation following the explosion at Ken's Autos.
An employee from a nearby business told the Mirror: "At around about 11.30am we heard about an explosion. A couple of guys came running out with burns and everything else. I'm hiding under the desk and I'm trying to answer the phones from my customers.
"Apparently there was five or six cars queued up to have their MOT done but they weren't able to move them in time."
Another witness said the sky was black with smoke.
Thirty-five firefighters are currently tackling the blaze in Limpsfield Road.
Crews have been sent from Purley, Croydon and Addington stations.
