BANSTEAD Downs Lawn Tennis Club enjoyed one of its finest finals days on Saturday June 21 with encouraging results.

David Brehme and Caleb Simms, both aged 14 and nationally and county ranked in Great Britain, brought great potential to the finals with their hard hitting and stylish play. Brehme beat former champion Neil Beaven who could not cope with the youngster's superior all-court game.

The most popular win went to Linda Morris and Diana Coppin in the ladies doubles who after a gigantic battle beat the holders, Mary and Carol Lane, for the first time.

Results:

Men's singles: D Brehme beat N Beaven 6-1, 6-1

Ladies' singles: C Agius beat C Lane 6-3, 6-1

Men's doubles: N Beaven and T Glading beat D Brehme and C Simms 7-6, 6-4

Ladies' doubles: D Coppin and L Morris beat M Lane and C Lane 2-4, 6-4, 6-3

Mixed doubles: T Glading and C Agius beat P Dickens and G Wyatt 3-6, 6-3, 6-4

The club is looking for new members of all standards. Please contact Pamela Vermes on 020 8642 1305 for more information.
