STEVE GRIFFIN has been left with a goalkeeper selection headache after a mediocre debut from new signing Robbie Whittaker on Saturday and Joe McLoughlin returning to fitness quicker than expected.
Whittaker, who joined from Redhill, and McLoughlin will both be available for Saturday's trip to Deal Town and Whyteleafe manager Griffin plans on leaving it late to make his decision on who will start.
"Robbie was at fault for Corinthian's first goal but he does try hard," the manager said. "It was a disappointing performance by the team as a whole though, so he wasn't alone. It wasn't a loss but it felt a bit like one.
"Joe will be back for Saturday but I'm not sure he is 100 per cent fit, so I'll wait nearer the time to decide who will play. I like a bit of competition for places though, I wouldn't want anyone to get too comfortable."
With a minute's silence for Whyteleafe stalwart Allen Kelly being held before Saturday's game, volunteers worked hard to make the rain-sodden pitch playable.
"You've got to admire their commitment," Griffin said of the volunteers. "I was shocked the game was on, the pitch wasn't great though and I think both teams struggled to play football."
Leafe's first good chance came in the 24th minute. A long ball put Jerson Dos Santos clear but keeper Richard Stroud was out quickly enough to save at his feet. From the goal-kick, Corinthian broke and their first shot at goal was deflected for a corner.
Paul Scott beat two defenders on the edge of the box in the 29th minute, but his shot was parried by Stroud into the path of Dos Santos, with the defence doing well to block his shot.
A minute later Getro Kilapi's shot was deflected for a corner. Bentley Graham took the corner which was flicked on to the far post where Cedric Abraham was on hand to score from close range to give the hosts the lead.
Corinthian should have equalised in the 37th minute when a corner from Jack Nuttall found Ryan Johnson in the box but he completely missed a free header.
Another cross from Nuttall in the 40th minute, however, brought an equaliser when Chris Kinnear headed into the net.
The visitors went ahead early in the second half. Another cross from Nuttall into the box was back-heeled into the path of Charlie Burgess who scored from close range. Kilapi appeared to be brought down in the box in the 54th minute but only won a yellow card from the referee who said that he dived.
Leafe had to wait until the 85th minute before they got the equaliser. A fine cross from the left by Tommy Smith found Graham at the far post who headed home to equalise and gain a share of the points for Leafe.
Whyteleafe: Whittaker, Clark, Smith, Robbins, Abraham, Kilapi (Martin 55), Graham, Maxwell, Stadhart (Ferdinando 75), Dos Santos (Garrick 67), Scott. Unused subs: Palmer, Thornton.
