REDHILL Town Raiders U11 came desperately close to their first-ever win, but lost 1-0 to Horsley Cougars in Division Six of the Epsom & Ewell League.
Following a nervous start from both sides, Raiders were the first to create chances, Elio Possumato and Callum Bessick forcing fine saves from the Horsley keeper.
When Horsley did break, they could find no way past the resolute defending of Callum Walsh, Joe Loughran and Owen Hepton and rarely tested the Reds keeper Fin Littler.
After the break, Reds continue to dominate.
Seth Ewbank made a surging run down the left and produced a precise cross to Bessick, but his shot was wide.
Further efforts from Hepton and Monty Collins also just failed to give Redhill the lead and the game was heading for a goalless draw when, with two minutes to go Horsley broke with a rare attack and won it.
